In a strategic move to modernize and enhance its technology and business processes, Honolulu’s Department of Planning and Permitting (DPP) has partnered with Speridian Technologies to implement Clariti’s Community Development Software. This new system will replace the DPP’s outdated 26-year-old permitting platform, ushering in a new era of digital efficiency and user-friendly processes.

With Speridian Technologies at the helm, the transition to Clariti’s all-in-one permitting platform promises a seamless shift from a cumbersome, on-premise system to a streamlined, fully digital process. From application to approval to project completion, the DPP’s operations will be more efficient and accessible, aligning with Honolulu’s vision of leveraging cutting-edge technology to serve its community better.

“With Clariti, the DPP will centralize its permitting, code compliance, planning, and short-term rental registration processes onto one easy-to-use platform,” says Dawn Takeuchi Apuna, Director of Honolulu’s Department of Planning and Permitting. “Applicants will be able to apply and pay for a permit or license via a portal on our website, which will greatly improve the end-to-end user experience for our residents and staff.”

Serving over 1,000,000 residents, the City and County of Honolulu encompasses the entire island of Oahu. This modernization project, led by Speridian Technologies, is set to significantly improve the efficiency and effectiveness of the DPP’s services, benefitting the entire community.
