Speridian Technologies jumped from second place in 2014 to top batter on this year’s list of fastest-growing technology companies with above $10 million in annual revenue.
The homegrown Albuquerque company, which designs and manages software systems for businesses and institutions, earned the No. 1 spot by growing its revenue nearly 207 percent over the past five years, from $10.9 million in 2010 to $33.4 million last year.
Speridian’s domestic U.S. workforce grew from 69 to 142, with offices in California and Washington, D.C. But worldwide, the company now employs more than 700 people, with operations in India, Dubai and Canada, said company founder and CEO Girish Panicker.
Those are huge accomplishments for a man who launched Speridian as a one-person operation in 2003. But Panicker, a native of India who grew up in Mumbai, said Speridian’s success reflects the unified team effort of a well-trained workforce that produces quality products and services. In addition, the company has benefitted from the Affordable Care Act and other health care-related changes after a strategic decision to focus on that industry in recent years.
“We’ve been in the right place at the right time, with good-quality products and good people,” Panicker said.
Like Speridian, nearly all companies on the over-$10 million list reported double- and triple-digit growth in the past five years. Overall, combined revenue for the eight firms on the list rose 64 percent, from $139 million in 2010 to $228 million last year.
Together, those companies employed 1,222 people in 2014, up from 823 five years ago.
